Dame Jilly Cooper

We are deeply saddened to hear of the unexpected passing of Dame Jilly Cooper.

Dame Jilly was not only one of Britain’s most beloved authors, but also a passionate and long-standing advocate for greyhounds and an Honorary Friend of Forever Hounds Trust. Her compassion, kindness, and tireless support for animal welfare — especially for retired racing greyhounds — touched so many lives, both human and canine.

Over the years, Jilly helped shine a light on the gentle, loving nature of greyhounds and the importance of giving them a second chance. Her warmth, humour, and generous spirit will be profoundly missed by all of us who had the privilege of working with her and by the countless dogs whose lives she helped transform.

Our hearts go out to her family and loved ones at this very sad time.
