If you adopt Admiral (or any of our dogs), you will be entitled to receive FREE behavioural support from our qualified team of behaviourists for any issues you might need help with during his lifetime. Further information will be given when homing Admiral. Please note, this support is only available for dogs adopted from Forever Hounds Trust.

Handsome Admiral is a 3 year old ex-racing greyhound, who has been spending time in a lovely foster home and learning about life as a loved family member – but is now ready to move on to his forever home!

Admiral is a bouncy, friendly boy who loves fuss and attention from people. He’s affectionate and loving, and is always up for meeting new people (though he doesn’t always realise his own size, and can be a bit over-enthusiastic!). His foster family say he is like their shadow at home, and always wants to be where they are.

Since he loves people so much, he does really struggle with being left on his own at the moment. He is looking for a home where he will not need to spend much time alone at all initially. There is the potential for him to gain confidence in this area over time, so that he is eventually able to spend short periods on his own, but this will take time and patience. Admiral absolutely loves getting out and about in his foster family’s camper van though, so would prefer to join you on adventures rather than stay home!

As an young, active dog, Admiral would prefer a fairly active home where he will get plenty of exercise. A garden big enough to run and play in would be ideal too! Admiral loves to play with soft toys on his own, and is learning how to play with people. He loves his food, and has been known to help himself to a sip of tea if he spots an unattended mug!

Admiral is a social butterfly who loves meeting other dogs of all shapes and sizes out on walks. He sometimes shares his foster home with an older dog, but she does find him rather overwhelming due to his size and enthusiasm! He can occasionally object to sharing food or resting areas (such as dog beds and sofas) with other dogs at home, so may be best suited as the only dog. We would consider placing him with another young dog of similar size, as long as his new family were able to supervise and manage any situations which might cause a disagreement. He is very keen to chase cats!

Admiral’s foster family describe him as the most loving and affectionate dog, who has really grown in confidence since arriving in their care. Sadly, circumstances mean they are not able to offer him a permanent home, but they will miss him a lot! If you think you can help Admiral with the next stage on his journey to living his best life, please get in touch!

Please read our latest Covid guidelines before you apply to adopt this lovely hound.
