If you adopt Albie (or any of our dogs), you will be entitled to receive FREE behavioural support from our qualified team of behaviourists for any issues you might need help with during his lifetime. Further information will be given when homing Albie. Please note, this support is only available for dogs adopted from Forever Hounds Trust.
Four year old Albie is the class clown at our Devon Centre, and is always making us laugh with his happy, bouncy character! He is super affectionate, and loves nothing more than a bit of fuss and attention from his carers (bum scratches are a big favourite!). Albie has lived in a home before, so is used to life as a pet. In the home he was housetrained and was described as a real couch potato! Since he bonds so strongly to his family, Albie isn’t keen on being left alone. As you can see from his photos, he’s a real cutie!
Despite his loving and playful nature, Albie does have a very sensitive, anxious side too – he was reluctantly returned from his previous home due to struggling around unfamiliar people and dogs. When introduced in the right way, Albie is very sociable with other dogs and love spending time with his canine friends. On walks he can be dog reactive, lunging, growling and barking when he encounters a dog he doesn’t know. Our Centre staff have been working with Albie to help him cope with these situations and he has made great progress, which should continue in his new home. He will need to be walked in areas without too many dogs (and where other dogs can be avoided when necessary by taking a different route). Although he loves meeting his doggie friends for walks, he would prefer to be the only pet at home.
Once Albie trusts you, he is the most loving, affectionate and playful dog you could wish for! He is worried about unfamiliar people however, and needs gradual introductions in order to feel safe. Albie has been practicing this too, and he’s becoming a pro! We will be able to advise Albie’s new family on the best way to help him feel safe when meeting new people, and his introductions don’t take long if done in the right way. He will need an adult-only home without too many visitors, in either a rural or quiet suburban area. Albie’s adopters must be able to make multiple visits to our Devon Centre, in order to build a relationship with him before taking him home.
Albie has been with us for a while now, whilst we’ve been helping him prepare for his new home. We now feel confident that Albie is ready to take that next step towards finding his new forever family – if that could be you, please get in touch!
