Basil is a playful lurcher boy, looking for his forever home! He’s only a baby at just under a year old, but is a big, chunky boy! Basil has spent a short period of time in a home. He’s a playful and affectionate dog, who loves the company of both people and other dogs. Basil struggled with being left on his own in the home, and could also become distressed if one of his human family left (even if someone was still with him). Basil is looking for a home where someone can be with him all of the time initially, with the potential to build up to short periods on his own over time. He will need to be allowed to sleep somewhere where he can see his human family overnight, at least to start with.
Whilst Basil’s last family were all at home, he was an absolute dream to live with! He was very calm and settled, spending most of his time snoozing on a comfy bed. Basil was clean inside the house and travelled well in the car. He absolutely loved trips out to dog friendly pubs and other places, where he happily accepted fuss and attention from his many admirers! Basil is a very friendly boy and could live with kind and respectful children, pending introductions. He has been fine around chickens (kept in a secure area).
Basil loves the company of other dogs, but doesn’t have much in the way of manners or doggie etiquette! He is desperate to be friends with every dog he meets, but does get very over-excited and boisterous when meeting a new dog – this can put off a lot of potential friends! He always has very friendly intentions but can be very strong on-lead when pulling to meet a dog, so his adopter must be physically able to handle him. He loves to play with his doggie friends, but again is very over-the-top and would be too much for many days. He could share his home with a resident dog, but they would need to be very playful and robust! Living with another dog may help Basil to cope with spending time without his human family, but there is no guarantee of this!
Basil is a real sweetie who has loads of love to give. If you think you could help him work through his worries about being left, please get in touch!
