Beautiful Beau is a small-to-medium-sized lurcher girl of around 4 years old, looking for her forever home. Beau has lived in a home previously, where she was generally very settled and clean inside the house. She absolutely loves people, food and playing with toys. She’s a real character who does everything with plenty of enthusiasm!
Beau was dog reactive when she came into our care but is now much better, and very manageable on walks – she no longer barks and lunges when passing other dogs out and about, as long as she has some support from her handler and doesn’t feel overwhelmed. She even has loads of doggie friends who she enjoys sharing her on-lead walks with! Beau does still struggle with encountering off-lead dogs, especially if they run over to her. For this reason, she prefers road walking in suburban/residential areas, as well as off-lead play in secure fields for hire. She isn’t able to share her home with another dog and wouldn’t appreciate canine visitors coming into her home – however she can be introduced to specific dogs she might meet up with on walks.
Beau loves her food and will do anything for a treat, which along with her big brain means she’s a pleasure to train! She travels well in the car and with a gradual build-up, should be able to get used to spending a few hours on her own. She would be best suited to a home with adults only or teenagers, since she is extremely bouncy and will knock smaller children over! A home with a secure garden is a must for Beau. She will pull on-lead when excited or concerned and can be a strong girl despite her size! She’ll need a physically fit adopter, who can manage her on walks and give her the amount of exercise she needs as a young, active dog – but she isn’t constantly on the go and does enjoy snoozing in between outings!
If you’d like to offer Beau a space on your sofa, please get in touch!
