Beautiful Berry is just as sweet as his name suggests! An affectionate and playful boy, Berry absolutely loves meeting new people, and being the centre of attention. He’s got loads of love to give, and is just looking for someone to take him home for sofa snuggle sessions. Berry gets along very well with other sighthounds, and would be happy to share his new home with a pointy companion.
When Berry first arrived with us, he wasn’t used to other breeds of dog – he was over-excited around them but also really nervous, and would tend to bark and lunge when spotting dogs on walks. We can’t really blame him for this; as a racing greyhound, poor Berry wasn’t given the chance to socialise with other breeds of dog when he was younger. Berry has been working really hard with our behaviour team, and has been doing a brilliant job learning to feel safe and calm around non-pointy noses! He is now very manageable on walks and rarely feels the need to bark at other dogs, as long as he has support from his handler. He has even been able to make friends with a number of non-hounds with gradual introductions. Berry’s adopters will be taken through his simple training plan, and given ongoing support to help continue his progress in the home.
Berry has been living in a wonderful foster home for the past few weeks, and despite some initial nerves has been loving home life. He’s house trained, sleeps through the night and has been getting used to short periods alone. He was scared to leave the house at first, but is now enjoying his walks, and has been no trouble around other dogs.
Despite his fun-loving nature, Berry is a sensitive boy at heart. He can be worried by loud traffic and crowds, and so would prefer to live in a quieter area. He would be best with older children (only because he can be a little over enthusiastic with his affection at times!). Our sweet boy Berry has been waiting so patiently, and for such a long time, to be picked – could you be the forever family he needs so much?
