Fluffy Bilbo is as hairy as a Hobbit and full of fun and affection. He’d be happy with a second breakfast too, if one were on offer! This little boy was found straying, but he’d much rather have a family to go on his journeys with. Bilbo is around two to three years old, and is a saluki cross – we think he has golden retriever in him too, as his tail is always wagging!
Bilbo is very affectionate and loving, and will happily fill the role of lap dog (though he is a little larger than lap-size!). He loves to play and learn new things, and is an exceptionally clever boy – especially if food is involved! Bilbo has lived with children in the past, and could live with older children in his new home. He does like to give an affectionate nibble when playing, but is learning to be more gentle.
Although he enjoys the company of other dogs once properly introduced, Bilbo can be worried about encountering unfamiliar dogs out on walks, and may bark at them. He is currently working on this with his foster family, and is making really good progress! His new family must be happy to continue with his training plan, and walk him in areas where he will not meet other dogs too frequently, so he is not overwhelmed. Bilbo’s new family will be given a behaviour plan to enable them to continue helping him learn about other dogs, and will be fully supported by our behaviour team.
Bilbo could live with another dog following introductions (as long as they were comfortable with his enthusiastic play style) but would be even happier having all the attention to himself! His foster family tell us that he’s very well behaved inside the home, and is house-trained. He’s also fine to be left alone for reasonable amounts of time, as long as he has his favourite treat toys to keep him busy.
Bilbo has been with us now for some time, just waiting for someone to give him a chance. Will you take this lovely lad into your life, and share your adventures with him?
