Beautiful Bob is a sweet and sociable ex racing greyhound who currently lacks confidence, and is looking for an understanding home that will give him support and a calm environment in which to find his paws. We don’t know much about his history before he came to us, but Bob tends to be quite anxious, and especially in new places or when faced with new experiences. His new family will need to take things slow so that he doesn’t feel overwhelmed.
Bob likes human company, and will seek out his people, but isn’t totally confident. He loves contact, especially gentle ear scratches and chin rubs. He can be worried about more intense handling such as hugging, and can also be quite hand shy at times. Consequently, he needs to live in an adult-only household, or one with teenagers who will behave consistently around him. He may be a little overwhelmed when he first goes home, so will need time to come out of his shell.
Bob hasn’t shown much interest in toys and can even be scared of them! He does love to play with dogs, however, especially fellow sighthounds, and would prefer to live with a confident canine pal. He has good social skills and is polite with dogs his own size. He does find smaller breeds more exciting, and while he has been friendly with a small terrier, he’s not ready to live with a little dog yet.
Bob walks well on-lead but is quite nervous out and about. He can be spooked by passing cars so would prefer walks away from busy roads. A rural or semi-rural home would suit him best. He is definitely more confident with another dog as a walking buddy.
Bob has spent time in our home from home cabin which he found quite overwhelming, so will need time and space to settle into his new home. He showed signs of wanting to hide, so would benefit from a little den of his own to retire to when he feels worried.
Bob is a gorgeous boy who has shown all the signs of being a loving pet. He just needs someone to show him that there’s a world of love out there waiting for him, where there’s nothing to be scared of. If you could be Bob’s protector, please get in touch.
