Further information will be given when homing Dolly. Please note, this support is only available for dogs adopted from Forever Hounds Trust.
Dolly is a small-medium sized lurcher girl of around 5 years old. If you’re looking for a loving and affectionate companion, look no further! Dolly is a real people person who absolutely loves fuss and cuddles. She wags her tail at every passing person on her walks, and it makes her day if somebody stops to fuss her! Dolly has been assessed around children, and should be able to live with older kids pending introductions. Her favourite thing in the whole world is food, and she’ll do absolutely anything for a treat! She loves to play with toys too, especially tennis balls!
Dolly isn’t a fan of unfamiliar dogs and is reactive towards them on walks – currently she will bark, growl and lunge at dogs who are within a certain distance of her on walks, especially if they are off-lead or start to approach her. Our behaviour team are working with her on this, and she is making progress really quickly – mainly because she is so food motivated and very intelligent!
Dolly’s ability to cope around other dogs should continue to improve in the home, as long as her training plan is followed. For now, she will need to be walked in areas without too many other dogs, and totally avoid any areas where dogs are likely to be off-lead (such as parks and beaches). Suburban road walks would suit her best at the moment, and she will need to stay on-lead and muzzled in public. We would also consider homes where Dolly would not go out for walks in public, as long as she had a large, secure garden to play in. Although she can make canine friends with gradual introductions, she does not want to share her home with another dog, or have doggie visitors to her home.
Dolly is always keen to jump into the car for a trip out, and travels well. She walks beautifully on-lead unless reacting towards another dog. She is very strong when she does react, so needs an adopter physically capable of holding her on-lead. Dolly has lived in a home for a short period, where she was described as being the perfect dog inside the house. She was settled indoors, slept well overnight and was clean inside apart from a few initial accidents.
Dolly really hates being in kennels – her natural habitat is snuggled up on someone’s lap! She may struggle around other dogs, but she more than makes up for it with her affectionate nature towards people. If you think you can offer her the love and support she needs, please get in touch!
