Sweet Jeanie is a gentle girl who thrives on human company. A seven-year-old lurcher, she is very affectionate and loves a bit of fuss and attention, pushing her head into your lap for more! She is a bit less comfortable with being hugged, and will be happier living with older children or an adult only household where her personal space will be respected.
Used as a working dog in her previous home, she is used to living outside in a kennel, so will take time to adjust to being in a house. She has tried out our home from home cabin, and was quite unhappy being enclosed at first, so will need to take things slow as she learns about the comforts of a proper home. A quiet environment will suit her best.
Jeanie has lived with another lurcher, but has shown signs of being uncomfortable around some other dogs and may prefer to be the only hound in her home. She appears to be much happier with smaller dogs and has enjoyed making friends with a female terrier cross, but has avoided the other hounds. She may show reactivity towards other dogs on walks, barking or lunging on-lead when encountering them, if she isn’t given lots of support around them. Her new family will be helped with how to make her feel safe around other dogs and build a positive association with them.
Jeanie walks very well on the lead, and has been relaxed when out and about. She can be quite vocal when left alone in her kennel and is very people orientated, so may struggle with a lot of time alone. She would be best suited to a home where someone is around most of the time. A bit of a princess when it comes to food, Jeanie can be a picky eater!
Since Jeanie was a working dog, she has probably been encouraged to chase and catch animals. She has a high prey drive and will not be able to live in a home with small furry animals. A firm grip on the lead will be needed when out on walks if she spots squirrels!
This special girl deserves a loving home where she can learn to be an indulged pet rather than having to work for a living. Will you let Jean Genie work her magic on you, and welcome into your family? If you do, all her love and affection will be yours!
