Important: Please read our latest COVID guidelines before you apply to adopt this lovely hound.

Sweet Jeanie is a loving girl who thrives on human company. A seven-year-old lurcher, she is very affectionate and loves nothing more than fuss and attention – she even likes to have chin scratches whilst walking! She does have a nervous side and can be easily spooked by fast hand movements, so would prefer not to live with children.

She is worried by unfamiliar men and will tend to avoid them until she knows them better, but can become defensive if pushed to interact before she is comfortable. Jeanie will require multiple visits in order to build trust with a male adopter, and as such we are not able to place her in a home with a male adopter or regular male visitors during lockdown.

Used as a working dog in her previous home, she is used to living outside in a kennel, so may take time to settle into indoor life. She has been spending time in our office at the Centre to help get her ready for her new life as a loved pet. A fairly quiet household will suit her best.

Jeanie does enjoy the company of other dogs when out and about, as long as they’re polite and not overly interested in her. She is generally not keen on dogs entering her personal space, and will tell them off if she feels they’ve overstepped the mark! She isn’t keen on sharing her toys, food or attention with other dogs either, so would like her new family all to herself please. She is not dog reactive on walks, but would not enjoy walks in areas where she will be approached by off-lead dogs.

Jeanie walks very well on the lead, and enjoys walking in the local park. She can be quite vocal when left alone in her kennel and is very people orientated, so may struggle with a lot of time alone. She would be best suited to a home where someone is around most of the time. A bit of a princess when it comes to food, Jeanie can be a picky eater!

This special girl deserves a loving home where she can learn to be an indulged pet rather than having to work for a living. Will you let Jean Genie work her magic on you, and welcome into your family? If you do, all her love and affection will be yours!
