Sweet little Fig is a charming six-year-old brindle greyhound girl who, now that she doesn’t have to race any more, loves to run for fun! After a long racing career, she is definitely looking for a comfy home where she can enjoy all the delights of lazy mornings on the sofa, plenty of belly rubs, and treats on demand.
Fig is a lovely little dog who comes across as confident and bouncy with people, but is actually quite anxious about interacting. Her new family will need to do several meet and greets with her to help build up her confidence in them before they take her home. She will need to go to an adult-only home, or one with older teens who will respect her space. Because she’s always been in kennels with other dogs, she’s not very happy on her own, and will need someone who is around most of the time, and should only be left alone for short periods. Having had a peripatetic racing career, she travels well, and will enjoy trips in the car to quiet, rural walking locations.
Like many ex racers, Fig can be excited by small dogs and other furry animals. She will show social behaviour towards smaller breeds, but can quickly revert to wanting to chase them, particularly if there are lots of off-lead dogs running around. As a result, she will need ongoing support to socialise with small breeds, be kept on lead when out and about, and will only be homed as an only dog or with another greyhound.
This darling girl has had a tough life, and has been looking for her forever home since her last race in 2019. We think she deserves to find it soon, so if you have space in your heart for this little dollop of sweetness, get in touch!
