Fleur is a fantastic lady with a great mixture of ‘up for an adventure’ and ‘let’s snuggle of the sofa’. She loves toys, treats, training, people and although she can find being on a lead around dogs a little tricky, she has been great at making sighthound friends whilst in our care.
Fleur is a firm favourite amongst the kennel team, and always has a warm wiggly welcome for us. She tries her best to be clean in her kennel, walks nicely on the lead for the most part and is often seen snoozing away in the sunshine. She isn’t hugely demanding when it comes to exercise – although she is capable of long walks and does love a zoomie or two; Fleur is also happy for a wander and cuddle at home too.
As mentioned, Fleur can find meeting new dogs when out and about a little difficult and she does have some lead reactivity issues that will need continued management when she goes home. This is a combination of being frustrated that she is on a lead and also a little worried that other dogs may be mean to her. For this reason she will need to live in a lower dog populated area with a family that are happy to walk at quieter times to build her confidence. As she loves food, and is eager to please, given time and patience we think she definitely has the capability to make doggy friends.
Fleur is regularly walked with other sighthounds, and generally enjoys their company. She may be better to live with another sighthound (as long as they aren’t lead reactive) but could be an only dog with walking friends.
Fleur really enjoys fuss and loves human company. Therefore, she would prefer for her new family to be home for the majority of the day, with time left built up at a pace she is comfortable with. We recommend Fleur lives with more than one person, with all family members sharing her care so she doesn’t become over attached to one person. She has never lived in a home before, so will need plenty of time to settle in. Her new home will need to be set up for her to succeed – plenty of things to do and play with, as well as making sure the bin is out of reach!
So, if you are happy to to continue her training and socialising (with support from our team), are prepared to administer lots of fuss and attention and be loved unconditionally in return, and would like to wonder in amazement at the longest and waggiest tail we have ever seen, please get in touch to enquire about this delightful girl. You really won’t be disappointed!
