Meet soulful Gerald, a beautiful young Lurcher (approx. 2-3 years old) who has had a difficult start to life – he arrived as an underweight stray in poor condition. He’s now making great strides and is now ready to find the loving home that he has probably never known.
Gerald is a shy boy who can be nervous around people and in new environments. Fortunately, he loves any kind of food, and is very clever so he’s done really well with making new friends, using a combination of exciting food and respecting his boundaries. He’s growing in confidence every day and it’s a pleasure to see his personality emerging. Once he gets to know you, he is a very sweet and gentle boy, who enjoys neck scratches! He’s become quite a favourite in kennels!
Due to his lack of confidence, Gerald is looking for a quiet adult only household, with minimal visitors, he would also like to live in a quiet area away from busy roads and schools. He will need a fully secure garden, and someone around most of the time to help him settle, which may take a while as we are unsure whether he has lived in a home before. Multiple meets would need to happen to allow Gerald to get to know his potential adopters before he went home.
Despite his worries, Gerald loves going out for walks, he loves sniffing and exploring! Understandably, Gerald still finds some places a little frightening and can flinch at loud noises and quick movements, so will need to be kept on a lead at all times. He is more able to cope when he has confident canine company around and he has enjoyed making friends and playing with his kennel mates, so although he needs to be the only dog in a home he would benefit greatly from having another calm dog to meet for walks.Gerald loves his toys and has great fun zooming around the paddocks playing with them – it really is a pleasure to watch!
If you enjoy travelling with your dog, unfortunately Gerald wouldn’t be your boy. He can get fearful of small spaces, and getting into vans/cars can sometimes prove to be a challenge.
Gerald is a truly lovely boy who really deserves to have a second chance at life. If you are a loving and understanding family, who can help build his confidence by reassuring him that the world isn’t such a scary place afterall, please do get in touch. We think someone will be very lucky to have gorgeous Gerald in their life!
