About Jack
Jack is a 5 year old lurcher boy, looking for a new home due to a change in circumstances. He’s a big softie, who absolutely thrives on human contact. He’s super affectionate and thinks he’s a lap dog, despite his large size! When Jack originally came into our care several years ago, he had clearly had a hard time and was very worried about new people (especially men!) and unfamiliar dogs. Jack’s confidence has really grown during his time in a loving home, and he is now only very rarely nervous of new people. He gets along really well with most other dogs that he meets (especially smaller breeds and other sighthounds), though he can occasionally bark defensively at certain larger dogs. Jack is very used to home life and is a real couch potato! He enjoys his walks, but isn’t a high-energy dog and is happy to snooze for most of the day. He’s housetrained and used to spending a few hours on his own, a couple of times per week. Jack travels well in the car, and walks well on-lead most of the time – but he gets extremely excited by cats and wildlife, and is very strong when he wants to go somewhere! He has been around children and has been very friendly with them, but does tend to knock them over in his enthusiasm.
Jack’s Homing Needs
- Can live with another dog (pending intros) or as the only pet
- Can live with older children, used to large/bouncy dogs
- Needs a secure garden big enough to run and play
- Can build up to being left for a few hours, a couple of times per week (but doesn’t cope with more than this)
- Needs a physically strong adopter, who can handle his size and strength when excited
- Walking areas without too many cats!
- Must be allowed on the sofa for a snuggle, and get plenty of fuss!
If you’ve got room for an extra-large lap dog, why not consider Jack?
