If you adopt Josie (or any of our dogs), you will be entitled to receive FREE behavioural support from our qualified team of behaviourists for any issues you might need help with during her lifetime. Further information will be given when homing Josie. Please note, this support is only available for dogs adopted from Forever Hounds Trust.
Josie is a sweet, shy 4 year old greyhound girl who has come into our care from the racing industry. She’s a quiet, nervous girl who is worried about the big wide world! She is very sweet and affectionate with people she knows, and enjoys gentle fuss. She will need a quiet home, where she will not feel overwhelmed by too many people. She may be able to live with older children pending introductions, but only if they are very sensible and respectful of dogs.
Josie can find walks quite scary, so would prefer to live in a rural/quiet suburban area. When feeling unsure on a walk, she likes to stop and take a few minutes to process her environment – so patient adopters who will give her the time to do this are a must! She relies on the support of other dogs when feeling insecure, so will need to share her home with a more confident dog. She gets along well with other sighthounds (as long as they’re polite!) but has shown some predatory behaviour towards smaller dog breeds. We are currently working on this with her, but she will need ongoing caution around non-sighthounds once in her new home (for example wearing her muzzle, staying on-lead in public and avoiding areas with off-lead dogs). This has already started to improve with careful socialisation, and should continue to do so in the home.
Josie loves playing with toys, and we’re sure her true personality will start to shine through even more once she’s settled into her forever home. If you could be the family to help her do this, please get in touch!
