Pretty Kayla is a sweet, loving ex racing greyhound who has come to us from a rescue in Ireland. At seven years old, she’s a bit more mature than many retired racers when they go home, so offers a great opportunity for someone to have a companion dog who prefers relaxing to hiking! An interactive, interested lady, Kayla has been delighted with everyone she meets, her expressive face and bouncy step making us all smile.
This lovely girl has been used to living in a rural environment, so will need a quiet home away from the city where she can adjust to domestic life. A patient family who are around most of the time and don’t have too many visitors coming and going will suit her perfectly. Any time alone will need to be built up slowly so she can get used to her new circumstances first.
Kayla can be lacking in confidence around other dogs, so will prefer to be the only hound in the home, but she would like to have some large canine walking companions to stroll with. As an ex racer, Kayla finds smaller breeds and furry animals quite exciting, so her new family will need to help her socialise safely.
Noise and new experiences can be overwhelming for Kayla, and her people will need to be prepared to not walk her too much or too far to start with. A large, quiet garden when she can pootle about would be ideal. Slow and steady is the name of the game when getting her used to the big, wide world.
Kayla has spent time in the house at her previous rescue, and in our home from home cabin, where she likes to stretch out on the rug, but what she really needs is a place to call her own, forever. Could you offer this special girl the safe, loving environment she’s never had the chance to enjoy? If so, please get in touch.
