If you adopt Marquee (or any of our dogs), you will be entitled to receive FREE behavioural support from our qualified team of behaviourists for any issues you might need help with during his lifetime. Further information will be given when homing Marquee. Please note, this support is only available for dogs adopted from Forever Hounds Trust.
Marquee is a lurcher boy of around 4 years old. He originally came to us from Ireland, where he was picked up as a stray. We don’t know much about his background, but it’s clear that he hasn’t had the easiest start in life. He is a real character who you can’t help but fall in love with!
Marquee has lived in a home previously, but sadly had to come back into our care because he struggles with meeting dogs out on walks. In his previous home Marquee was totally housetrained, settled inside the home (apart from the odd lurcher moment of madness!) and could be left for short periods. He can be nervous in new places and will need plenty of time to settle into his new home, before he’s ready to cope with walks out in public – so adopters should be prepared not to walk him for at least the first week at home.
Marquee does enjoy walks with his select doggie friends, but needs very gradual introductions to new dogs and is reactive when encountering unfamiliar dogs on walks (lunging and barking). For this reason, he needs either a very rural home or walks in quiet residential areas without too many other dogs. Our staff at the Centre have been working with Marquee to help him manage his emotions around other dogs, and this training must be continued in his new home if he is to keep improving. Although he can make canine walking friends with gradual introductions, Marquee will need to be the only dog at home. He is very rough when playing off-lead with other dogs and does not understand when they aren’t enjoying the game!
Marquee is a sweet, sensitive boy who loves gentle fuss and affection. He is happy to meet new people and may be able to live with respectful, kind older children, pending introductions.
Marquee will probably need to meet his new family a few times at our Devon Centre in order to build a relationship with them before he’s ready to go home. If you have the patience and understanding to give Marquee the supportive home he deserves, please get in touch!
