Four-year-old Santos is a lively, loving boy. As you can see from his photos, this beautiful black greyhound just loves to run for fun. Confident and social, he has a fabulously expressive face and isn’t shy about telling you how he’s feeling! Despite being prematurely grey around the chops, he’s a fun, energetic lad who will deliver a whole bundle of joy to his new home. Full of curiosity, Santos is a real nosy parker, and wants to have a paw in everything that’s going on.
Santos is a lovely boy who’s really affectionate once he’s got to know you. He enjoys going out for walks with his kennel mates, but is equally content to walk on his own. He behaves nicely on the lead, but he can get quite excited when he sees other dogs. We’ve been working hard to help him stay calm, and he’s being doing really well. This training will need to continue in his new home.
This lad could potentially live with another greyhound or sighthound following successful introductions at kennels. Santos loves to play with toys, and will appreciate anyone who has time to entertain him. For a former racing greyhound, he copes really well in a quiet urban environment and we feel he could build confidence being in busier environments. He tends to gravitate towards familiar people, so will also require help to learn that it’s okay to hang out at home alone.
Like all rescue dogs, Santos has a past, and as a racing greyhound it may not have been a happy one. We’ve noticed that he can be startled by fast hand gestures; this may indicate he has been mistreated at some point in his history, so his adopters will need to be mindful with their movements. Potential families will need to meet Santos a couple of times to ensure he’s comfortable with them before they take him home.
This super lad has so much going for him, he’s going to make one lucky family very happy. All he asks is a soft bed, plenty of toys, and to be the centre of your world. If you have a Santos-sized hole in your heart and home, please get in touch!
Please read our latest Covid guidelines before you apply to adopt this lovely hound.
