If you adopt Suzie (or any of our dogs), you will be entitled to receive FREE behavioural support from our qualified team of behaviourists for any issues you might need help with during her lifetime. Further information will be given when homing Suzie. Please note, this support is only available for dogs adopted from Forever Hounds Trust.
Super Suzie is a bouncy 10 month old greyhound girl, looking for her forever home. Despite being a greyhound, Suzie is not your stereotypical couch potato – she’s more of a jumping bean, full of energy and very bouncy! She’s desperate to be friends with everyone but doesn’t know her own size and tends to be rather over-the-top with her enthusiasm. She could live with kids of 12 years and up, but they must be totally comfortable and confident around large, boisterous dogs who jump up to say hello.
Suzie loves the company of other dogs of all shapes and sizes, but although she means well, she can be a bit too boisterous for smaller or older dogs. We’re ideally looking to home her with a playful resident dog, who will help her burn off some energy as well as giving her confidence out and about. Although she’s very outgoing once she finds her feet, she tends to be quite unsure initially in new environments, and benefits from the support of a canine companion. She is looking for a rural or quiet suburban home, as an urban environment would be too overwhelming for her at the moment.
Since Suzie is only a puppy and hasn’t lived in a home before, she will need help learning the basics, such as toilet training. Suzie thrives on human company and can be very vocal in her kennel, so we suspect she may struggle with spending time on her own. We’re looking for adopters who won’t need to leave her alone at all initially (so that she can be given a gradual introduction to time on her own) and who will only need to leave her for short periods following this. Suzie travels brilliantly in the car (she usually needs a hand getting in, but once she’s in she falls asleep!) so would love to come along on adventures with you, rather than staying home.
Since Suzie is currently in her adolescent phase, her new family must be prepared to deal with all the normal behaviours which come along with adopting a dog of her age. She is an absolutely lovely dog, but will be a handful until she starts to mature. Her adopters must have patience, understanding and a sense of humour! Suzie is going to need plenty of interaction, training and attention on a daily basis – it would be unrealistic to expect her to snooze quietly all day whilst her family works from home, for example. She’s a clever, food motivated girl and would really enjoy attending positive, reward-based training classes. A garden big enough for zoomies is near the top of her wish list!
If you have the time and energy to offer this beautiful girl her forever home, she will absolutely make it worth your while, by making you laugh every day. Please get in touch if you’d like to hear more about Suzie!
