Trapeze is a very special girl, and is definitely one for our saluki super fans! She is only 4 years old and is a real free spirit, who likes to do everything on her own terms – she’s the self-appointed Queen of Kennels! She’s looking for an understanding and patient new family, who will love her for her quirks and eccentric ways. Trapeze is a special and complex girl who will only thrive in a very specific home environment, so please apply for her only if you fit the following criteria:
- A quiet home environment, with no children or visiting children (Trapeze is very fearful of new people and can act defensively when she feels threatened)
- Either a very large, secure garden or ideally access to your own private land (Trapeze cannot cope with walks in public, but would be happy just taking her exercise in a garden big enough to zoom!)
- The ability to visit our Somerset kennels multiple times, most likely over a period of a few weeks or possibly even longer.
Sadly, Trapeze will not be the dog for you if:
- You want to go out for walks in public (Trapeze is very fearful, she will panic and try to bolt if spooked by an unfamiliar person, dog, traffic etc)
- You want to take a dog on days out, trips and on holidays (Trapeze needs a very sheltered life with limited environments and a predictable routine)
- You have children or visiting children
Trapeze is very worried about unfamiliar people, and the outside world in general. She takes a long time to build a relationship and trust someone new, and can be defensive if she feels threatened or overwhelmed. Once you’re in Trapeze’s inner circle, she’s the most affectionate, loving and playful girl going! Her new family will need to commit to visiting our Somerset kennels multiple times, over an ongoing period of time in order to gain her trust. A home with only one or two people will be much easier for her in terms of introductions. Getting to know Trapeze takes work, but is absolutely worth it to feel the honour of being one of her favourite few people!
Trapeze does not enjoy walks out in public, since she finds the world very frightening! She’s looking for a a family who will understand that some dogs genuinely don’t benefit from going for walks in public. Trapeze is very easily spooked by people, dogs, traffic and other noises, and will panic and try to bolt – if she got loose, it would be very difficult to get her back. Her absolute ideal home would be someone with their own private land, where she could go for walks without worrying about meeting anyone – but she’d be just as happy with a large, secure garden for zoomies!
When it comes to dogs, Trapeze very quickly makes her mind up – some she loves, others she is less impressed with and will make this very clear! She would love to live with another dog if the match was right, but would also be happy as the only dog and centre of attention. She loves to play with her canine friends but does tend to play very rough, so any resident dogs would need to share her enthusiastic and vocal play style!
Trapeze is a really clever girl, who will do anything for a treat and learns quickly – though she’ll probably be training you as much as you’re training her! Although she can be very interactive and affectionate, she’s also an independent lady who likes to do her own thing. She’s a real clown, who loves to make the kennel staff laugh with her antics and bags of saluki attitude. If you think you have what it takes to appreciate Trapeze and love her as she is, please get in touch!
