Jet – In foster – with videos

  • Greyhound
  • Male

Say hello to gentleman Jet! He’s a handsome ex-racing greyhound, who is 4 years old and about 28 inches to the shoulder. Jet has a really beautiful personality – he loves fuss and cuddles, is gentle and sweet with people and his doggie friends. He’s used to living in a home environment, is housetrained and a star inside the house. Jet is a sensitive boy at heart, and although he gets along great with dogs he has been introduced to, he can be quite anxious about meeting new dogs on his walks. This can cause him to bark at dogs when out and about, but we have been working on building his confidence and he is getting better all the time! Jet will need a supportive owner who can help him out on walks, so that he feels safe and doesn’t need to bark when he’s feeling unsure.

Despite needing a little bit of extra help on walks, he is very manageable and will continue to improve as long as his simple training plan is continued in the home. Jet finds busy parks and other open areas with lots of dogs more difficult, so prefers to walk on the roads or around the woods where he doesn’t feel overwhelmed. Once he has been introduced properly to a new dog, he is very sociable and could easily live with a calm, confident canine friend. He has been around older children, and could live with kids again pending introductions. Poor Jet is really missing his home comforts, and would love to get back onto a comfy sofa as soon as possible please! He would even be happy to go jogging with someone or just as happy going for a walk.

UPDATE: Jet is now in foster with 2 Greyhounds and a Boxer, plus a Lurcher house guest.  He has just been amazing!  Clean in the house, you don’t hear a peep out of him during the day or at night, he loves to sleep, he has to be one of the most chilled Greyhounds we have had in the house.  He may for a minute a day have a mad moment chasing a toy in the garden but apart from that, his bed is his favourite friend.  He gives just the best cuddles, will rest his head in your hand and stand there for ages.  He is so respectful of your possessions and your food.  Jet is just so easy!  You can even clean his teeth with an electric tooth brush and he stands there!  He has met dogs out on walks, some he has a little bark at but the other half of the dogs he see’s, he just looks at and carries on with his daily sniffing.  He is such a gentle chap, who is a little worried at what life is going to throw at him, he can make his meal times last for what seems like hours for the other resident dogs, as he carefully selects each piece of kibble and slowly chews like he is savouring every mouthful.
