Sophie – Rescued from Macau

  • Greyhound
  • Female
  • Can live with children, 15 or over
  • Not cat trainable

Sophie is one of the dogs that Forever Hounds Trust helped to rescue from the Macau Canidrome in China. Despite not having a very good life so far, she absolutely loves humans and cuddles, and could be mistaken for a puppy when playing with her toys!

Although Sophie is keen to make friends with other dogs, she has probably never had the chance to meet any other breeds, and so finds them rather over exciting at the moment. She is therefore looking for a home that would be willing to continue working with her on this and be able to take her on walks where she won’t be overwhelmed by other dogs.

She is an absolute sweetheart and has even gone grey in the shape of a heart on her face. She is a firm favourite in kennels and we think she is pretty marvellous. She is about nine and a half years old, but is very spritely and loves going on walks. Sophie is on the small side for a greyhound and stands 24 inches to the shoulder. She could live with older children, and another greyhound pending introductions. Given her difficult past, Sophie will need a patient, understanding family who will give her time to settle into home life at her own pace.

Sophie spent a night with a volunteer after her neuter and whilst she found it all a very strange experience she coped very well and found herself quite at home snuggled under the desk.
