Great Global Greyhound Walk – Barbury Castle
Come along and enjoy the views from one of Wiltshire’s spectacular Iron Age hill forts. This is the first GGGW organised by Forever Hounds Trust in Wiltshire so let’s make it a good one and get as many greyhounds there as possible.
All breeds are very welcome.
All hounds MUST be kept on a lead please regardless of whether there is livestock in the fields or not.
Meet in the main car park from 9:30am onwards. If you would like to make a donation to FHT on the day that would be very much appreciated.
There are three potential walks depending on the time you have available and your physical ability.
- The GREEN walk takes approx 15 to 20 minutes and takes you to the gate before the monument and back to the car park.
- The BLUE walk takes approx 30 to 40 minutes and takes you through the middle of the monument and back to the car park.
- The RED walk takes approx 45 to 60 minutes and takes you around the monument on top of either the inner or outer bank and back to the car park. The tops of each bank are quite wide and access is via the grass slopes which were constructed almost 3,000 years ago.
Suitable footwear and clothing are required for all walks. Extra caution is required if it is wet as the grass will probably be slippery.
Unfortunately the small tea room opposite the car park has been knocked down to make way for a new racing stable complex so please bring refreshments for you and your hound.
We look forward to seeing you there.
