Jan Lake, Chair of Trustees for Forever Hounds Trust and also the Somerset and Wiltshire Regional Homing Officer for the charity has been shortlisted for Volunteer of the Year in the Perplan & ADCH Animal Charity Awards 2018.
Now in their sixth year, the awards celebrate the amazing work carried out by animal charities and not-for-profit organisations across the UK, Ireland and Channel Islands. The awards recognise the remarkable charity teams, volunteers and employees that go above and beyond in their mission to improve the welfare of vulnerable animals.
Jan has supported Forever Hounds Trust since 1997 when she first learnt about the work of the charity, then known as GRWE, Greyhound Rescue West of England, while watching a TV interview with the charity’s founder.
Commenting on her nomination, Jan said: “I am absolutely delighted to be a finalist for this yeas’ Volunteer of the Year in the Petplan and ADCH Animal Charity Awards! I feel exceptionally honoured to have been chosen, and to represent Forever Hounds Trust – which is a fabulous charity to volunteer for.
“I am passionate about greyhounds and lurchers, so to be recognised for doing something which I love so much was quite a shock! For me, volunteering isn’t a ‘chore’. It’s very much a privilege!”
Petplan’s Head of Marketing, Isabella von Mesterhazy, commented: “These awards are a fantastic opportunity to highlight the remarkable work and ongoing commitment shown by animal charity staff, teams and volunteers.
“We’re delighted to announce the finalists of the Petplan & ADCH Animal Charity Awards 2018. The nominations received were truly inspiring, reflecting the dedication and passion of the people involved to help improve the lives of pets.”
The winners will be announced on Wednesday 25th April at the annual awards ceremony in Birmingham.
