Inspired by the return of the Great British Bake Off to our screens this evening, a group of dogs from national rescue charity Forever Hounds Trust have launched a bid to find their own star baker!
Could you be the winner of ‘The Great Barking Bake Off’ competition? The event will be held in the prestigious surroundings of Buscot Park in Faringdon, Oxfordshire on Sunday 18th September as part of Forever Hounds Trust’s 20th Birthday Afternoon Tea Party.
Forever Hounds Trust is well known for rescuing and homing greyhounds and lurchers, and the dogs they have in their care at the moment are keen to sample some tasty treats at the Barking Bake Off!
There are two categories in the competition – human cakes and hound cakes! Entrants can enter one or both categories, with a suggested donation of £2.50 per entry.
Fundraising Co-ordinator for Forever Hounds Trust, Claire Gambrell, said: “There will be special prizes for those crowned star baker on the day and we know the dogs are all keen to help with the judging of the competition! They will definitely be enthusiastic about it although possibly less refined than Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry!”
As well as the Great Barking Bake Off there will also be lots of other attractions for both humans and hounds at the event, which starts at 11.30am at the home of the charity’s Honorary Friend, Lord Faringdon. The fun dog show is sure to draw a big crowd, and the homeless hounds parade will see dogs in need of a forever home take to the show ring. There will also be an auction, raffle, market stalls and of course plenty of tea and cake available.
