Forever Hounds Trust is making an urgent appeal to find a home for two beautiful greyhounds who have both been handed back to the centre near Wincanton through no fault of their own.
Hank is a three and a half year greyhound who came into Forever Hounds Trust’s care after retiring from the racing industry. Since then he has proved himself to be a loving dog who enjoys being out and about going for a walk or a ride in the car.
Laura Andrews, Volunteer Regional Homing Officer for Forever Hounds Trust, says: “Hank is used to living as an only dog so can be left for short periods. It’s possible he could live with other dogs though, and maybe older children too. He’s a really handsome chap and so deserving of the right forever home. We are really keen for him to have a happy life and hope we can find a home for him soon.”
Hi is also a good-looking chap. A bit older than Hank, at 7 years old, Hi is an affectionate dog that has been living with a family recently, but very sadly has had to be returned to Forever Hounds Trust due to his owner’s illness.
Laura says: “Poor Hi had found what we thought was his forever home, but the sudden and serious illness of his owner means he is once again looking for a new family. His main hobbies seem to be sleeping and eating and he will make a wonderful companion for someone.”
Laura adds: “We are very careful to home our dogs with the right owners for them. There is definitely someone out there for both Hank and Hi, and we have many other greyhounds and lurchers that are also looking for their forever home. I would encourage anyone who is thinking about getting a dog to get in touch with us. Greyhounds and lurchers make wonderful pets. Contrary to popular belief greyhounds do not require much exercise at all. We affectionately call them the 40 mph couch potatoes because they do like to spend a lot of time lying on the sofa! A lurcher is a sighthound crossed with another breed of dog. They come in all shapes and sizes and make wonderful, affectionate family pets.”
