Forever Hounds Trust is appealing for a home for a very special lurcher called Badger, who enjoys a run and has recently tried his paws at cani-cross.
Take one look at Badger, who is being looked after near Bath, and you will see how he got his name. This handsome, medium sized black and white dog has a white stripe down his nose just like a badger. Sadly, this young dog had a terrible start in life, when he was found shivering under a bush in Ireland. He was taken in by Forever Hounds Trust and brought to their kennels near Bath.
Since then he has transformed into a healthy and handsome dog, and is starting to gain some confidence. Recently he has been going out for a run with a Forever Hounds Trust volunteer, and even had a quick go at cani-cross, where a dog runs alongside a human, connected by a special lead that attaches to the runner’s waist.
Jan Lake, Trustee of Forever Hounds Trust said: “Badger really enjoyed his run. Initially he was very excited and a bit bouncy, but he soon settled down and ran along nicely. Badger would make a great companion for someone who enjoys running and will help him learn how to run at a gentle pace.”
The team of volunteers at Forever Hounds Trust have been working with Badger to help him gain confidence and learn how to enjoy life. He needs a new owner who can continue this work with him, and because he is still quite scared of busy places, a home in the countryside would suit him best.
Jan adds: “Badger is a truly lovely boy who has sadly had a terrible start in life. He really deserves to find a loving new home that he can call his own. He will make a great companion and has already shown that he would be a runner’s best friend!”
