Rooster celebrates Chinese New Year – the Year of the Rooster!

Beautiful greyhound Rooster found his forever home through Forever Hounds Trust (or GRWE, Greyhound Rescue West of England as it was then) almost four years ago. Rooster’s name comes from his racing name, which was ‘Imperial Rooster’. When Rooster retired from racing his trainer asked for the Trust’s help to find him a loving forever home, and he was matched with Viv.

Rooster now accompanies Viv when she is volunteering for Forever Hounds Trust. Viv says: “Rooster is a wonderful ambassador for Forever Hounds Trust and the greyhound breed, and has shown lots pf people what good pets greyhounds make. His favourite pastime on collections is to lean on and gaze up at unsuspecting shoppers with those amazing eyes. Few can resist!”

Such is Rooster’s love of people that Viv has recently had him assessed as a Pets as Therapy dog. She adds: “He didn’t put a paw wrong and has started visiting a care home where the residents love making a fuss of him.”

For those who looked after Rooster when he first came to the charity, and helped him find his forever home, it’s wonderful to see him so happy and enjoying life as a pet. Viv says: “It’s the Chinese Year of the Rooster, so let’s hope for a healthy and prosperous year for everyone at Forever Hounds Trust, and lots of forever homes for hounds!”
