A little female lurcher called Rosie has been taken into the care of rescue charity Forever Hounds Trust after being discovered in a dire situation on an industrial estate.
The rescue organisation believe Rosie had a very lucky escape. Emily Burns-Sweeney, Director of Homing for Forever Hounds Trust says: “Rosie escaped several times from an industrial estate where she was being held and was eventually rescued by a very brave lady, who went to great lengths to ensure she never went back. She managed to convince the owner to sign Rosie over to her, after which another rescue helped get her in to our care. Rosie was extraordinarily lucky and owes her life to this amazing lady and the other people who worked so hard to save her. She is a very special dog and we are very relieved she made it to safety.”
Rosie, has survived with her lovely happy-go-lucky personality intact. She has a zest for life and adores everyone; adults, children and dogs alike.
Emily adds: “Rosie is as bright as a button and what we affectionately refer to as a ‘love-sponge’, she will make someone a wonderful companion. She has clearly been loved at some point in her life, and she must have lived in a home before as she is fully house trained and knows some basic commands. We don’t know how she came to be on that industrial estate but she’s a very happy little dog and deserves to find a loving forever home where she will be safe and cared for.”
Rosie is thought to be about four years old and is currently being looked after near Dunstable by volunteers of Forever Hounds Trust who are keen to find her a permanent home. Forever Hounds Trust rescues and finds loving homes for greyhounds and lurchers throughout England and Wales, and there is always a great demand for their help. Emily explains: “Each dog we find a home for frees up a space for us to rescue another, so by homing one of our dogs you are actually saving the lives of two.”
Forever Hounds Trust, formerly GRWE, Greyhound Rescue West of England, carefully matches dogs with their new owners and offers continuous support for the lifetime of the dog.
