Forever Hounds Heroes
Be a hero. Save a life.
Tango is ten years old. Since he was a tiny puppy, he had spent his entire life in a filthy, wet concrete pen with only a broken and leaking shed for shelter. With no bedding, he had to sleep on the cold concrete. It’s hard to think about how he and his four sisters endured the misery, day after day, year after year. Sadly, his mother did not survive, but Tango and his sisters were saved in time, and cared for by Forever Hounds Trust until they were ready to spend the rest of their lives in loving homes.
It’s hard to imagine what kind of person would have so cruelly neglected Tango and his family. It takes a special kind of person to help him, and dogs like him, to make the journey from a life of misery and squalor to a happy life in a loving home. Please can you be that special person?
These beautiful dogs had hardly ever left the cruel confinement of their bare enclosure. Such appalling conditions can create a whole range of health issues, including deformed joints, malnutrition, filthy, flea infested coats and rotting, painful teeth. These dogs knew nothing of a normal life – let alone any love or affection.
Every week, dogs come into our care needing treatment for injuries and sickness caused by cruelty and neglect. All too often, no-one has cared for them enough to treat wounds and skin sores, or even to give basic dental, flea and worming treatment. More than half of them have painful injuries to their joints. In addition to urgent pain relief, many of these will require surgery and other treatment including physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, acupuncture and laser treatment. Some have parasitic infections, such as lungworm, which can be fatal if not treated.
Last year, over 400 dogs made their journey to their forever homes with Forever Hounds Trust. By becoming a ‘Forever Hounds Hero’ and making a suggested regular donation of £15 each month, you can provide vital support to more dogs as they make their journey to safety and love – and help to save dogs’ lives.
In recognition of your commitment, we’ll send you updates on the hounds you have helped, and you’ll be invited to a special ‘Forever Hounds Heroes’ event to meet some of them. You will also receive Talking Hounds magazine twice a year and an exclusive ‘Forever Hounds Hero’ enamel badge.
As you read this, there are many more hounds out there looking for a hero to help them – please will you make that commitment to them?
Jan Lake, Chair of Trustees, who was closely involved in their rescue, reports that Tango and his sisters are making great progress: “They are thriving – with a safe and warm place to sleep and running across the paddock with the sun on their backs, it’s what life is all about. It just saddens me that so much of their lives have already been wasted in that cold concrete compound…”
… and Tango is now happy in his forever home!
