In August 2014, a very special and dedicated sighthound rescuer completed an amazing feat– all for the dogs he loves.
Forever Hounds Trust (Forever Hounds Trust) volunteer Toby Boram is undertood an epic, nation-long cycle this summer, setting off from Cornwall on August 5 and arriving at the north western tip of Scotland just 10 days later.
Along the route, Toby was supported by hundreds of Forever Hounds Trust volunteers who held special events to celebrate his progress.
“But this really is about the hounds, not me” smiles modest Toby, who has been training for the event since 2013. “I was just looking for a way to draw attention to Forever Hounds Trust; to raise awareness of what fabulous pets our dogs become.”
Toby and his entourage, including canines Rowan, Jack and Daylah, will make their way through Bideford, Westward Ho!, Taunton, Bath, Hereford, Shrewsbury and Chester before heading into Scotland, and Forever Hounds Trust folklore. “Most probably with a variety of aches and sores” shrugs Toby.
“But it will be more than worth it; Forever Hounds Trust dogs invariably become wonderful pets. We have one of the lowest return rates of all dog rescues.
“Our charity is run by people who are expert at matching dogs to new homes, and then at helping new homes through post-homing support,” Toby told us.
