Forever Hounds Trust is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and homing of unwanted, abused or abandoned sighthounds and has been homing these dogs for 25 years.
Our vision is a day when every sighthound is free from risk or need. Having expanded from small beginnings in the west of England, Forever Hounds Trust now operates across four geographical regions, and helps over 300 dogs each year.
We are currently seeking a volunteer gardener at our new Centre of Excellence in Devon. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the growth of the new Centre belonging to the Trust for someone who can work independently.
The Centre is located in 5 acres of grounds, some of which is grassed and will require cutting with the use of a ride on lawn mower. Other areas contain fruit trees, while around the house which doubles as an office there is a profusion of shrubs and flowers in a well-established garden.
Plans are being made for memorial areas of the grounds and a sensory garden with the help of a member of the Gardeners World team, so this will present a fabulous opportunity for a volunteer to become involved in the conception and maintenance of these areas.
Main responsibilities:
To carry out routine garden tasks, mowing of grass, pruning of bushes, clearance of associated garden waste.
Upkeep of garden furniture and fencing.
Assisting in the development of new areas beneficial to hounds and their owners.
To be familiar with and adhere to the operational procedures, guidelines and policies of Forever Hounds Trust
Role development:
The opportunity to develop own ideas and provide work record for CV if required.
Going forward, to be involved in the work already planned with a professional gardener.
