Four greyhounds currently being looked after by greyhound and lurcher rescue charity Forever Hounds Trust are raising eyebrows thanks to their unusual cow print coats. The stunning white and black patterned dogs have been affectionately nicknamed ‘the cowboys’ by staff and volunteers at the charity thanks to their resemblance to a herd of cows.
Patch and Champ are two-year-old greyhound brothers and are stunning to look at. Patch is a particularly happy and confident dog. He is very calm and easy going and is very comfortable with humans and other dogs. Champ is a little shyer than his brother but his confidence grows when Patch is around, and once you have got his trust his tail does not stop wagging! Both the brothers walk well on the lead. Chris Berry, Regional Homing Officer for Forever Hounds Trust said: “Patch and Champ were kennelled together and are a bonded pair so we would dearly love to be able to find them a home where they can remain together. They are truly lovely dogs and will make somebody some wonderful pets.”
The other two ‘cowboys’, Ermine and Thomas are also very stunning both inside and out. Ermine is a four-year-old greyhound who had led a sheltered life. He is not particularly worldly nor wise and but with gentle encouragement he is soon socialising with aplomb. Staff at the Trust think he would be benefit from a rural home with another, fairly large, dog that would give him some confidence, and an adult-only home or with older teenagers. Director of Kennelling and Welfare for the Trust, Emily Burns-Sweeney said: “Ermine will need a little time to settle in to a new home, but he is a little sweetie and will make someone an awesome pet.”
Thomas has only recently arrived at the charity, so is spending some time getting to know the staff and volunteers and is settling in well. It won’t be long before he is also ready to start looking for his forever home.
