Starting point on the footpath off Oakley Hill, Wimborne (see map in comments) There is plenty of parking across the road in Merley Ways (BH21 1QL – what3words: ///foods.soft.sting) and there is a pedestrian crossing close by. We are then walking to the Lady Wimborne Bridge and Canford School and back along the River Stour and its suspension bridge.
Lady Wimborne bridge is a former railway bridge built in 1853, and now a listed building. Its highly ornate design reflects the power of landowners over British railway companies in the mid-nineteenth century. Built shortly after the railway came to the town of Wimborne in Dorset, England, it is now a Grade II listed structure.
Please note there may be some dogs off lead.
Afterwards we shall go on to the Willett Arms, 2 Oakley Hill, BH211RN for refreshments.
A donation of £2 for the FHT hounds in kennels or tins of sardines are very welcome 🙏
