Chip & Ivy: One Year of Forever Home Happiness

20/09/2026

We’re always delighted to hear how our adopted hounds are getting on in their forever homes!

There’s something incredibly special about receiving an update and hearing about all those little moments that make a hound part of the family – from favourite sleeping spots and early-morning wake-up calls to squeaky toys, zoomies and squirrel spotting!

Recently, we heard from Chip and Ivy’s pawrents as they celebrated a very special milestone – their first Gotcha Day. 🥰

Here’s what they had to say:

We recently celebrated our ‘Gotcha Day’ when we formally adopted Chip and Ivy a year ago.

Ivy settled in from day one finding home comforts of a human bed. Chip shortly followed although getting down stairs was a bit more of a challenge!

Both settled in well. Chip (aka Mr Chips, Chippy, Chipster, Son) enjoys the comfort of a human bed & strokes under the chin. Ivy (aka Miss Ivy, Princess Ivy, Ivykins) just loves a new squeaky ball (did you know they can squeak ALL day lol).

Mr Chips loves going to the local field trying to spot squirrels or rabbits (do you know they can hide UP trees) whereas Ivy loves stalking the local housing estates on the look out for cats!

We take them to a secure field once a week where Chippy enjoys sniffs and agility (only cause I can see higher) whilst Miss Ivy, after zoomies, can stare at the Bug Hotel for a good 40 minutes!!

Chippy is a sensitive soul and both are now on home cooked food (with a little kibble).

Chippy has become vocal & just loves waking up at 5:30 am and telling us it’s time to get up lol. As for Ivy – well might as well have a few more minutes asleep upside down! Lol.

My father gets stopped so many times by passer-by’s commenting on what a stunning pair of dogs.

We cannot thank Forever Hounds Trust enough for giving us this opportunity to adopt Ivy & Chip – they have also rescued us!

What a wonderful update. We hope you had a Happy Gotcha Day, Chip and Ivy! It sounds as though you’ve got your pawrents very well trained – especially when it comes to beds, squeaky toys and 5.30am starts! 😂
