Foster homes needed – could you help a hound in need?

07/10/2026

We’re looking for new foster homes for our hounds across the South West and surrounding areas. Due to the needs of the hounds currently looking for foster homes, we’re looking for people who are physically able and confident handling larger, stronger or more energetic hounds, including dogs who may be strong on the lead.

Fostering can make an enormous difference to a hound. ❤️

By welcoming a hound into your home temporarily, you can reduce the amount of time they spend in kennels and help us learn much more about how they behave in a home environment. This valuable insight can increase their chances of finding the right forever home.

And there’s another important benefit: every dog who moves into foster care frees up kennel space for another hound in need.

You won’t be doing it alone. All our foster carers receive full training in dog behaviour, handling and assessment through our Foster Carer Induction Programme. You’ll also have ongoing support from our qualified and experienced staff throughout your foster dog’s stay, both by telephone and in person. 🏡

Could you foster for us?

To meet the needs of the dogs currently requiring foster care, we’re looking for foster carers who meet the following criteria:

  • You are physically able and confident handling larger, stronger or more energetic hounds, including dogs who may be strong on the lead.
  • You live within one of these postcode areas: PL, EX, TQ, TA, DT, BS, BA, BH or SP.
  • There are no resident children under 10 years old.
  • There are no resident dogs or cats.
  • You can foster each dog for a minimum of one month.
  • A foster dog should not be left alone for more than 4 hours at a time, and you must be able to spend around a week gradually building up the time they spend alone.
  • You have a secure garden OR easy access to a safe outdoor toileting area, ideally just a few steps from the home.

Could you make a difference to the life of a hound in need?

Apply to become a foster carer by clicking on the button below – our hounds would love to hear from you.
