If you entered our Christmas Raffle, or donated to our Big Give appeal in December, this success story is with thanks to you as Hopper was the unfortunate star of our appeal.
When he arrived in our care his sad eyes reflected how sore his skin felt and how let down he had been. As we got to know him, we realised that his scars were not just physical, we could only guess at how he had been mistreated.
Hopper needed a lot of veterinary treatment and behavioural support to get him ready for his forever home, this also meant he needed an extended stay in our care. He progressed through his vet care and rehabilitation and was made available for homing after a while. It didn’t take long before he was noticed on our website and we received an enquiry from a previous adopter who had already worked wonders with one of our nervous hounds.
Hopper isn’t a straight forward dog, so he needed to meet any potential adopter numerous times so he could learn to trust them, as well as ensure compatibility with any resident dogs. Everything needed to be done at his pace. A series of meets were set up at our Centre, then Hopper had a trial day in his potential new home. It all went well, and the wonderful news is…..Hopper is now home forever!
He is now looking forward to a bright future in Somerset with his lovely new family – his mum, two greyhounds and a lurcher to play with!
We wish them all a very happy future together! 💕
