Missy was quite a head-turner when she was in our care with those wonderful ears of hers, now she is turning heads in these beautiful images captured by her photographer mum. Since being adopted in May 2022, Missy has gone from strength to strength. Her lovely mum updates us….
Missy turned five on the 19th of December and celebrated her birthday with poached eggs on toast, a trip to the local dog cafe to have a beef and broccoli smoothie, followed by a long walk and steak, chips and broccoli served on a bacon and mushroom puree with homemade gravy for tea! Celebrating in style. In her spare time, she is a model and muse for K9snaps photography.
In her time with us, she has gone from reacting to dogs on walks to having the most amazing recall and being off-lead all the time on our regular local walks and woods. She definitely enjoys being an only dog, though she does have many doggy friends. The whole family loves her (featured with my dad when we met up to both take photos of her at the lavender fields!), and she’s a lot calmer about strangers petting her and honestly just takes it all in her stride – everyone she meets loves her, and we get so many compliments.
She goes on holiday to our family’s caravan in Wales, which she LOVES. She can be in and out of the caravan without a worry as the whole field is secure, and it’s HUGE so she can just run around. She has regular visits to Weston-Super-Mare where she loves the beach! She also gets to explore the peak district when we visit family up north. She loves to play with my mum’s miniature schnauzer and has a love-hate relationship with my mother-in-law’s dog, the yellow lab Monty – mainly cos he keeps licking her face (featured with my gran).
She’s an insanely confident dog. Very little phases her, and she’s incredibly smart. We’ve joined some hoopers and agility classes earlier this year, which she loves. She’ll do anything for her ball or chicken. She has learnt Sit, lie down, walk backwards, turn around, bow, sit up, stay, wait, middle and walk backwards while doing middle. She knows the commands to jump up onto things too.
The past 18 months with her have been the best, and we look forward to the next few years with her! Should anyone want to follow along, her Instagram is @missy.with.the.ears.
Missy’s Mum
Wow, Missy certainly landed on all fours when she was adopted, and she’s come such a long way thanks to the love and devotion of her amazing family. If you love these photos, contact K9 Snaps Photography to have your beloved hound captured so beautifully. We are so grateful for the photoshoots that have been donated to Forever Hounds Trust to raise funds to ensure more hounds get the second chance at life that Missy did.
