Forever Hounds Trust is reiterating it’s desire for a phased end to greyhound racing in the UK following the publication of a major new report issued by the RSPCA examining the welfare of racing greyhounds.

Following the report’s release, we said:
“In light of the current situation within the greyhound racing industry, Forever Hounds Trust believes that the radical systemic changes outlined in this report (page 41) would go some way towards safeguarding the welfare of racing greyhounds. However, there appears to be little evidence that the industry, as a self-regulating body, has either the willingness or the momentum to implement these measures effectively. Therefore, we are calling for a phased end to greyhound racing in the UK, as we believe this is the only realistic way to secure a future in which the welfare of greyhounds is properly protected.”
The report, published in partnership with Blue Cross, Dogs Trust and Hope Rescue, concludes that greyhound racing is incompatible with modern animal welfare standards. Sharing the report on social media, the RSPCA said:
“A major new report concludes that the greyhound racing industry is incompatible with modern animal welfare standards.”
