It’s National Fitness Day, the biggest physical activity celebration of the year.
This years theme is “Your Health is For Life”, to encourage people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to recognise and celebrate the life-long physical and mental benefits of being active.

“Dog owners enjoy numerous health and social benefits by walking their dog a few times a week. Benefits include improved cardiovascular fitness, lower blood pressure, stronger muscles and bones (built up by walking regularly), and decreased stress. A regular walk is vitally important for your pet’s health too. Obesity in pets is associated with a number of medical complaints including osteoarthritis, cardiovascular disease, liver disease and insulin resistance.” (source https://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/)
So to celebrate National Fitness Day, put on your shoes, pick up that lead, and take your four-legged friend for a nice long walk!
PS…if you haven’t got a dog to walk, we can help with that – we have lots of lovely dogs available for adoption, click here. In the meantime, get practising for the arrival of your new friend and go for a nice long walk anyway! 😀
