Summer Raffle – Nigel’s Story

We have just launched our Summer Raffle with the following prizes:

Our raffle will help us help hounds that need us, hounds like Nigel…..

Whilst most greyhounds come to us straight from racing, that is not always the case; Nigel (pictured) was a 6-year-old boy who came to us from a long-term home, he was surrendered due to his behaviour. Once Nigel was in our care, we quickly discovered that his behavioural issues were caused by pain. His teeth were in such poor condition and had been for a long time.

Nigel needed so much work done that his dental intervention had to be split into two sessions so that we did not exceed the recommended time under anaesthetic. During his first dental alone, Nigel had to have 15 teeth removed. A second appointment for further extractions, follow-up checks and medication meant that Nigel’s total dental care costs amounted to a staggering £1,726.30.

Thanks to our supporters kind donations, we were able to see Nigel’s change in behaviour and move him into a foster home with a loving family. Nigel is now an integral part of their lives and will be staying with them forever.

Our raffle will provide us with vital funds to help other dogs like Nigel. Given the current environment, we have looked at the most economical way of running our raffle, therefore, we have sent tickets to everyone who has donated, or bought raffle tickets in the last three years. BUT, we’d love so many more people to take part as all money raised will go directly to ensuring we can continue our vital work in rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming greyhounds and lurchers in need.

If you haven’t received any raffle tickets in the post, but would like to take part (or would be happy to sell some to your friends and family), please email fundraising@foreverhoundstrust.org with your name, postal address and the number of books you would like (tickets are £1 each and come in books of 10), and we’ll get them in the post to you.
