Rosie the lurcher finds her happy ever after

11/10/2017

Rosie the dog

After spending nine months in the care of Forever Hounds Trust, Rosie the lurcher has landed well and firmly on her paws in the loving home of Dave and Gill.

Gill and Dave’s family consisted of three cats, yet Gill felt there was a gap, saying that she always considered herself to be ‘ a doggy person’. They began looking around, trying to find a sighthound that would fit into their circumstances. Their daughter had already adopted a stray lurcher, Norman, and this had increased their love for the breed. After looking for a suitable dog, they clapped their eyes on Rosie and have never looked back.

After the routine home checks and meetings, the smitten family took Rosie home. It took Rosie no time at all to get into life as a family pet. Gill says: “She settled into our home so quickly and immediately made herself at home on the sofa!”

Rosie with her owners

It wasn’t long before Rosie showed her new family her love for the outdoors, by going on journeys in the family motorhome, running along the beach, through the woods and in the garden, and she particularly enjoys having Norman the lurcher to stay.

Although most of the time is fun and games, Rosie is an intelligent dog who gets training to practice her recall, and the game fetch. But Gill says that fun is always on her Rosie’s mind and she can get easily sidetracked! It’s a good job Gill and Dave mix fun and training together to keep this busy girl occupied!

Rosie has settled in so well that Dave and Gill can’t imagine life without her now. Gill adds: “I can honestly say that we haven’t looked back and she has changed our lives for the better.”

Forever Hounds Trust loves finding dogs their happy ever after, and with more lovely hounds to home, the stories are never-ending. For Rosie, there really has been a happy ever after, with a home full of love and several comfy beds and sofas. She, along with her new owners, couldn’t be happier.
