Walk 30 Miles For 30 Years!

01/05/2026

Walk 30 miles in June. One mile for every year Forever Hounds Trust has been giving hounds a second chance.

For 30 years, Forever Hounds Trust has been giving sighthounds a second chance. Dogs that came off racetracks. Dogs that were abandoned. Dogs that arrived frightened, thin, and unsure what a home even felt like. Thousands of them, one at a time, transformed by patient care into loved family companions.

This June, we’re asking you to walk with us. Thirty miles across the whole of June – one mile for every year we’ve been doing this work. Walk to the shops. Walk the dog. Walk at your own pace, in your own time, wherever you are in the country. Every step is a tribute to 30 years of second chances.

Sign up free on JustGiving by clicking the button below – when on the Just Giving Page, click on the orange ‘Start Fundraising’ Button to create your page. Set yourself a £150 fundraising target – share your page. Then in July, when we celebrate our 30th anniversary, you’ll know you were part of making it happen.

You can help hounds like beautiful Baby

Baby is just five years old – but she’s already lived a lifetime on the racing track.

Until just two days before she arrived with us, she was still racing. Pushed to perform again and again, she ran 83 races in total – her small frame carrying the weight of a demanding life.

When Baby came into our care, the impact of those years was clear. She was underweight, her coat thinning and patchy, her body struggling after prolonged use of hormone suppressants. Even something as simple as eating was difficult – she was in urgent need of dental treatment.

But everything has changed now.

Her story is no longer about racing – it’s about healing.

For the first time in her life, Baby is being given the chance to rest, recover, and feel safe. She’s receiving the veterinary care she needs, along with the patience, comfort, and kindness she’s been missing for so long.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the challenge?

The 30 Miles in 30 Days Challenge is a fundraising event to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Forever Hounds Trust.
We’re asking supporters to walk 30 miles across 30 days while raising £150 for hounds in need.

When does the challenge take place?

You can complete your 30 miles anytime within June. You choose when and how you walk – just finish within 30 days!

Do I have to walk 1 mile every day?

Not at all! You can split the miles however suits you:
> 1 mile a day
> Longer walks on weekends
> A few big walks to reach your total
It’s completely flexible.

How do I sign up?

Simply register and set up your fundraising page on JustGiving. If you don’t want to do it this way as you have no way of sharing it, we can always send you a paper sponsorship form – just email louise.tillcock@foreverhoundstrust.org and she will gladly send you one!

Is there a registration fee?

No – signing up is free! We just ask that you aim to raise £150 to support hounds in need.

Do I have to reach £150?

We encourage everyone to aim for £150, but every pound you raise makes a difference, so it’s not necessary. Just do your best, every single pound makes a difference to hounds in need.

Where does the money go?

All funds raised will support the work of Forever Hounds Trust, helping provide care, rehabilitation, and loving homes for dogs in need.

Can I take part with my dog?

Absolutely! This challenge is perfect to do with your dog (or even borrow one!) Just make sure walks are safe and suitable for them.

How do I track my miles?

You can track your progress however you like:
> Fitness apps
> Smartwatches
> Phone step counters
Or simply estimate your distance

Do I have to walk outdoors?

Not necessarily – you can:
> Walk outside
> Use a treadmill
> Mix both
Many of our supporters take part with their dogs, so it’s a great opportunity to get out walking together and enjoy the challenge side by side. Every mile counts!

Will I get support?

Definitely! We’ll provide:
> Fundraising tips
> Social media ideas
> Motivation throughout the challenge
Once registered keep an eye on your inbox, our Facebook and Instagram Page, and don’t forget to join our Facebook Supporters Group to share how you are getting on with fellow challengers!

Would you like to see photos and videos of how I am getting on?

Absolutely! Please do share Instagram posts, reels and stories, tagging @foreverhoundstrust using the hashtag #FHT30for30. Likewise share your posts on your Facebook page tagging @foreverhoundstrust and also in our Supporters Group.

Do I need to use social media to take part?

Absolutely not! Of course we’d love to see pics of how you’re getting on, but it’s not mandatory!

Who can I contact for help?

If you have any questions or need support, please email the team at louise.tillcock@foreverhoundstrust.org – we’re here to help!
