It’s Eat What You Want Day, and whilst Floss thinks that means she’s entitled to her mum’s dinner, sadly for her, she didn’t get any as dogs just can’t ‘eat what they want’. Many foods that we enjoy so much are poisonous to our four-legged friends….
⚠️ ONIONS, GARLIC AND CHIVES – can cause gastrointestinal irritation and red blood cell damage.
⚠️ CHOCOLATE – contains a stimulant called theobromine which can cause kidney failure.
⚠️ MACADAMIA NUTS – contains a toxin that can affect your dog’s muscles and nervous system.
⚠️ AVOCADO – contains a substance called Persin which can cause vomiting and diarrhoea in dogs.
⚠️ ARTIFICIAL SWEETENER (XYLITOL) – can send dogs into hypoglycaemia which is linked to liver failure and blood clotting disorders.
⚠️ ALCOHOL – can lead to sickness, diarrhoea and even central nervous system damage.
⚠️ COOKED BONES – can easily splinter and cause constipation or at worst, a perforation of the gut which can be fatal.
⚠️ GRAPES, RAISINS AND SULTANAS (AND ALL FOODS THAT CONTAIN THEM) – may cause severe liver damage and kidney failure.
So, as much as those big brown eyes plead with you, please ensure you don’t feed your dog any food that could cause them harm – even just a tiny little bit. Always have some dog-friendly treats at hand! 👍
