We were thrilled recently to have been awarded £1,000 from the Ecclesiastical Society’s Movement for Good!
The purpose of the Movement for Good awards is to help charities continue their great work – they have awarded us £1,000 to make a positive difference.
Members of the public were invited to nominate causes close to their hearts, and 13,695 charities were nominated by an amazing 253,879 members of the public. Forever Hounds Trust was one of the lucky 500 to have been awarded this gift,
At any one time, Forever Hounds Trust has several dogs with families under our supported homing scheme, whereby we agree to pay vet costs associated with the dog’s condition should the family be unable to. We also have dogs in foster care. We support each foster family with dog food, veterinary bills, bedding, toys and advice. These families help our charity by freeing up spaces at kennels for emergency intakes; they help the hounds by readying them for homing; and they help themselves.
At the beginning of June 2020, we had 20 dogs in foster care (due to intake and homing restrictions brought about by the coronavirus crisis) and 36 dogs in our supported dogs scheme. These are in addition to the dogs in our rented kennels and their costs are in addition to kennelling and veterinary costs for those dogs.
The award from Movement for Good will help us to help these 56 homers and fosterers, and these 56 special hounds, who would otherwise have nowhere else to go.
Thank you to everyone who voted for us!
