Forever Hounds Trust is shocked to learn that the Government has awarded £1million of taxpayers money to the UK greyhound racing industry as emergency funding because of coronavirus despite there being no funding granted yet for the overstretched animal welfare charities taking care of the broken and discarded dogs from this cruel industry.
The granting of £1 million to the Greyhound Board of Great Britain (GBGB) is a kick in the teeth to charities like Forever Hounds Trust, who continue to pick up the emotional and financial costs of the dogs that are used, abused and discarded by the racing industry. Especially when, despite lobbying from the Association of Dogs and Cats Homes and large animal welfare charities, there has still been no financial support for welfare charities, who have all struggled to cope through the pandemic.
Once again, profit and exploitation of greyhounds has come before the welfare of these dogs.
