It’s Black Dog Day, a day that encourages the adoption of black dogs, so let’s take a moment to appreciate the elegance, grace, and unique beauty of black sighthounds.
Despite this, sadly these gorgeous hounds are less likely to be adopted for no other reason than their colouring. Regardless of behaviour, size, breeding, personality, or age, the phenomenon persists.
This is bad news for greyhounds, as with one of the most successful racing greyhounds of all time being black, there is a large lineage; black is also the most dominant colour gene. Therefore, there are always so many black greyhounds looking for homes.
However, we want to change the fact that black dogs are often overlooked, and hence are promoting them today!
If you would like a black (with maybe a little bit of white!) four-legged family member, check out the two in the picture above – these are home-hunting hounds pretty Polly left and handsome Bruce right.
Molly and Isaac below are two more of our black hounds currently looking for a new home.
