Lucas, a 12 year old former racing greyhound came to Forever Hounds Trust at the start of the Coronavirus lockdown. We don’t know how he came to be a stray, but it was clearly some time since he was cared for. The list of ailments was long – unsteady on his feet, very bad mange, a horrible worm infestation and a mouth full of rotting teeth.
It was thought that Lucas wouldn’t survive kennel life, so he was immediately welcomed into a foster home. There, he underwent various vet tests and treatment, whilst he started to enjoy all the love and home comforts he deserved.
A couple of months on, Lucas is a different dog. Thanks to our supporters kind donations, and the love, care and devotion his wonderful foster family have bestowed on him, he has been transformed into a handsome hound, completely unrecognisable from the shadow of a dog we first welcomed into our care. The icing on the cake is now, his foster family just can’t let him leave, and have welcomed him into the family….forever!
Not only does he gain a lovely mum and dad who are also volunteers, he gains wonderful siblings in other Forever Hounds Trust rescues…Monty, Gracie and Oakley, and….remains part of the Forever Hounds family!
