Today we’re celebrating the wonderful news that Viva is home…forever!
Viva’s story is a bittersweet one.
We were first contacted to see if we could help Viva and her best friend, Uno. They were beloved family members of a previous adopter who, due to ill health, could no longer care for them. Although they were in London and weren’t originally Forever Hounds Trust dogs, that didn’t stop us stepping in to secure their future. We travelled to London to collect them ourselves, determined to make sure they were safe and could begin the next chapter of their lives.
To minimise any further upheaval, we found a loving foster home where Viva and Uno could stay together while we assessed them and prepared them for finding a new family. Their fosterers quickly fell in love with this lovely pair, caring for them through all of their routine veterinary treatment, including dental work, and giving them the very best life.
The possibility of adoption was being discussed…until tragedy struck.
Sadly, 11-year-old Uno became very unwell and deteriorated rapidly. Despite everyone’s best efforts, the kindest decision was to let her go peacefully.
Having lost her lifelong companion, Viva was facing another huge change. But her fosterers knew they couldn’t let Viva lose the family she’d come to love, and they couldn’t imagine life without her either. They completed the adoption, and now Viva is exactly where she belongs – home forever.
We only wish Uno had the chance to enjoy the same happy ending, but we are so grateful to Viva’s family for making sure Uno’s final months were filled with love, comfort and security.
Congratulations, Viva! We wish you and your family many happy years together. Thank you to her fosterers for opening their hearts to both girls and for giving Viva the forever home she so deserves.
