Some of the South East regional volunteer team enjoyed raising awareness about sighthounds at an event held in London recently, organised to celebrate the recent success of campaign work to ban the third party sale of puppies and kittens in England. Pup Aid, an initiative of activist and celebrity vet, Marc Abraham, was held in Primrose Hill and hosted various dog-themed trade stands and a celebrity-judged dog show. The team (including volunteer hounds Joe, Amber, Nellie and Summer) enjoyed rubbing shoulders with actor Peter Egan, comedian Ricky Gervais, Strictly Come Dancing contestants and dancers along with a whole host of canine friends and supporters. A sighthound also won ‘Best In Show’, which was a fantastic way to promote the breeds as pets.
Anna Claxton, Project Manager: Community Fundraising Development, said: ‘We were thrilled to be able to show support for the great work done by Marc and his team in pushing for the ban of third party sale of puppies and kittens through Lucy’s Law. We had a thoroughly enjoyable day, talking to visitors about sighthound welfare and meeting the various hounds in attendance’.
